Inflation

Crude Oil/energy prices

📊 10-Year Government Bond Yield —

🇺🇸 USA ~4.7–4.8% ↑/volatile 2021

🇨🇳 China ~1.7% ↓/low

🇹🇼 Taiwan ~1.9% relatively stable US/India

🇮🇩 Indonesia ~7.0% elevated Emerging-market high yield

🇲🇾 Malaysia ~3.8% moderate relatively stable

Trading Economicsના ઉપલબ્ધ 2026 data મુજબ US ~4.65%, India ~6.87%, Japan ~2.89%, China ~1.70%, Taiwan ~1.88%, Thailand ~2.10%, Indonesia ~7.02% અને Malaysia ~3.83% આસપાસ હતા.

Bond Market US 10-year Treasury yield

FREDના data મુજબ 27 August 2026એ 10-year Treasury yield 4.67% હતી.

2021માં US 10-year yield લગભગ 1.5% આસપાસ હતી.

UK 10-year gilt yield

Japan

આથી: Japan yield ↑ → Japanese money પાછું Japanમાં → Global liquidity ↓ → US/India/other markets પર pressureઆ risk ખાસ ધ્યાનમાં રાખવો.

🇨🇳 China —

Chinaમાં 10-year government bond yield આશરે 1.7% છે.

એટલે Chinaમાં હાલમાં India/US/UK/Japan જેવી yield surge નથી.

Low growth / weak demand / deflationary pressure

Inflation + borrowing cost + fiscal pressure

🇮🇩 Indonesia

Indonesia 10-year yield

US yield ↑ → Dollar attractive ↑ → Emerging-market capital outflow risk ↑

local borrowing costs

equity valuation

Bond Yield ↑

⬇️

Government bond વધુ attractive

⬇️

📉 India

1️⃣ FII selling

Foreign investor

US yields ↑

→ Dollar demand ↑

🔴 Negative / High Risk

1. IT

High valuation stocks પર pressure

US economy slowdown

2. NBFC

Funding cost વધે

NIM/credit demand પર pressure

3. Realty

Home-loan rates ↑

Demand ↓

4. Auto

Financing cost ↑

Consumer demand પર pressure

5. Consumer discretionary

6. High P/E growth stocks

Banks

Insurance

Energy / Oil-related companies

Value stocks

🇺🇸 USA

US 10Y ↑

→ Growth stocks પર pressure

→ Nasdaq માટે ખાસ negative

→ High P/E technology stocksમાં valuation compression

🇯🇵 Japan

🇬🇧 UK

Yield ↑ → Government borrowing cost ↑

→ Consumer mortgage rates ↑

🇨🇳 China

China yield low રહે → monetary conditions relatively accommodative.

Risk Scenario

US 10Y > 5%

+India 10Y > 7%

+Crude Oil > $100

+ USD/INR ↑+Inflation ↑

🚨 Global Equity Risk

Inflation ↑ → Central Banks hawkish → Bond Yield ↑ → Liquidity ↓ → FII selling ↑ → Equity valuation ↓

Scenario A — Good Yield Rise

GDP strong

Jobs strong

Corporate earnings strong

Inflation controlled

→ Yield ↑

Scenario B — Bad Yield Rise

Inflation ↑

Crude ↑

Government debt ↑

Central bank rate hikes ↑

Currency weak

→ Yield ↑

→ Valuation ↓

→ FII selling ↑

Market Reading

🇺🇸 US 10Y ~4.7–4.8% 🔴 Negative

🇮🇳 India 10Y ~6.97% 🟠 Caution

🇬🇧 UK 10Y ~5.25% 🔴 Global risk

🇯🇵 Japan 10Y ~3.0% 🔴 Important risk

🇨🇳 China 10Y ~1.7% 🟢 Relatively easy

Crude Oil Elevated 🔴 India risk

USD/INR જો વધે 🔴 India risk

FII flows Yield-sensitive ⚠️ Watch

High P/E stocks Vulnerable 🔴

Value/low P/E Relatively better 🟢

5 indicators

1. US 10-Year Bond Yield

2. India 10-Year G-Sec Yield

3. USD/INR

4. Brent Crude

5. FII/DII buying-selling

US 10Y ↑ + India 10Y ↑ + USD/INR ↑ + Crude ↑ + FII Selling ↑

US 10Y ↓ + India 10Y ↓ + USD/INR stable + Crude ↓ + FII Buying ↑

10-Year Bond Yield

NIFTY BIG PICTURE — Technical View

📊 NIFTY BIG PICTURE — Technical View

I have looked closely at your 5-minute chart and also cross-checked the current market backdrop. Nifty is around 24,145, right at an important Fibonacci/support area. The latest market reports also describe Nifty as sideways/corrective, with 24,200–24,300 acting as an important decision zone.

🔴 SHORT TERM — 5 Min

Trend: Bearish → Weak/Corrective

Your chart shows:

  • Price is below the black moving average.
  • Red short-term average is below/turning down.
  • Recent structure is making lower highs and lower lows.
  • 24,145 is sitting exactly around the 50% Fibonacci level.
  • 24,107 is the next important Fibonacci support.
  • 24,053 is the major support shown on your chart.

Short-term levels:

  • Resistance: 24,190–24,220
  • Strong resistance: 24,300–24,305
  • Support: 24,107
  • Major support: 24,050–24,053

➡️ Below 24,107: bearish pressure can increase toward 24,050 → 24,000.
➡️ Above 24,220: recovery can start toward 24,300 → 24,400.

Recent technical commentary also identifies 24,200 as an important pivot and 24,000 as the next major support.

🟠 MEDIUM TERM — 1 to 4 Weeks

Trend: SIDEWAYS / CORRECTIVE

This is the most important part of the picture.

Nifty has not yet produced a convincing medium-term breakdown, but it also has not regained bullish momentum.

The broader range currently looks approximately:

24,000 ↔ 24,400/24,500

A sustained breakout from this range should determine the next meaningful direction. Analysts have similarly highlighted 24,350–24,400 as a major resistance zone for a stronger bullish move.

Bullish scenario 🟢

If Nifty gives a daily close above 24,400–24,500:

24,600 → 24,700 → 24,800

would become possible.

Bearish scenario 🔴

If Nifty gives a decisive daily close below 24,000:

23,900 → 23,800 → 23,600

become the important downside zones.

So at the current level, I would not call this a strong bullish market yet.

🟢 LONG TERM — 3 to 12 Months

Here I would be careful: your uploaded chart is a 5-minute chart, so it cannot reliably establish a 3–12 month trend.

For the long-term picture, the key principle is:

24,000 is the major battlefield.

If Nifty continues to defend the 24,000–23,800 region and subsequently starts forming higher highs + higher lows on the daily/weekly chart, the long-term structure can remain constructive.

But a sustained weekly breakdown below 23,800, especially followed by failure to reclaim it, would materially weaken the long-term structure.

The market has recently been affected by elevated crude prices and geopolitical risk, which is another reason not to assume an immediate one-way bullish trend.

Long Term🟡 Neutral → Bullish if support holds23,800–24,000Wait for confirmation

⭐ Most important levels

Above 24,300: 🟢 Bullish recovery
Above 24,400–24,500: 🟢 Stronger bullish confirmation
24,107: ⚠️ Immediate support
24,050: ⚠️ Critical chart support
Below 24,000: 🔴 Bearish breakdown risk
Below 23,800: 🔴 Long-term structure becomes significantly weaker

📌 Trading conclusion

At 24,145, I would NOT aggressively chase BUY positions.

The better price-action approach is:

BUY only after strength above 24,220/24,300, preferably with candle-close confirmation.

SELL/short only if 24,107 breaks decisively, with confirmation toward 24,050/24,000.

So the present market is best described as:

“SHORT-TERM BEARISH, MEDIUM-TERM SIDEWAYS, LONG-TERM WAIT FOR CONFIRMATION.”

This also fits the current market's broader corrective/range-bound structure.

Today’s Market Outlook – 17 August 2026

 Today’s Market Outlook – 17 August 2026 (Pre‑Market)

Market is set for a muted to slightly weak open as GIFT Nifty trades around 24,403 (–27.5 pts, –0.11%), indicating a flat-to-negative start for Indian indices. Volatility remains low with India VIX at 11.30, suggesting range-bound movement unless a sharp news trigger appears.

1) Key Indices & Levels

GIFT Nifty

Trading: ~24,403 (–0.11%) → signals muted opening for Nifty.

Bias: Neutral to mildly bearish early; watch 24,400 as resistance and 24,200 as key support.

Nifty 50 Closing reference: 24,366 (previous session).

Key supports: 24,315 → 24,289 → 24,248; major support zone 24,200 (100‑DMA / 50% Fib confluence).

Key resistances: 24,397 → 24,423 → 24,464; strong resistance near 24,500.

Scenario: Above 24,400–24,420: attempt towards 24,460–24,500.

Break & sustain below 24,200: risk slide to 24,050–24,000.

Bank Nifty Closing reference: 57,491 (–0.44%).

Supports: 57,403 → 57,332 → 57,217; major support 57,200; deeper supports 56,800 / 56,200.

Resistances: 57,633 → 57,704 → 57,819; breakout trigger 58,200 for move to 58,500–59,000.

Bias: Range-bound with slight downside risk unless 57,800–58,000 is taken out decisively.

Sensex While exact Sensex close isn’t in snippets, it typically mirrors Nifty’s tone. With Nifty defending 24,200 but momentum weak, expect Sensex to open flat to slightly lower, consolidating near recent highs.

Use Nifty levels as proxy; watch for broad-market breadth (advance/decline) for confirmation.

India VIX Closed at 11.30 (lowest since mid‑Jan 2026), down ~1% previously.

Interpretation: Low fear, low volatility → favors range-bound/index-option selling strategies but be cautious of sudden spikes if Middle East/oil news escalates.

2) FII / DII Actual Flows (Latest Available)

Exact “today’s” FII/DII figures for 16 Aug aren’t directly quoted in snippets, but the latest reported data shows:

FIIs: Net bought ₹1,228 crore in the week ended 14 Aug (third straight week of buying, though lower than prior week). Monthly net buying ~₹4,115 crore in August so far.

DIIs: Net bought ₹9,286 crore in the same week; monthly buying ~₹17,000 crore in August.

Another snapshot notes DIIs net bought ₹4,353 crore on 13 Aug, with FII selling vs DII buying highlighted as a key driver.

Broader context: FPIs pumped ₹16,621 crore into Indian equities in 1–15 Aug, but remain net sellers in 2026 overall (~₹2.4 lakh crore outflows YTD).

Takeaway: DII buying is strong and supportive, while FII flow is cautiously positive in August but still fragile in the bigger picture. This supports a buy-on-deep-dips approach rather than aggressive breakout chasing.

3) USD/INR (Dollar–Rupee)

Snippets indicate US DINR (USDINR) around 95.43, with expectation of short-term stability before potential medium-term drift.

For intraday: a stable to slightly stronger dollar keeps pressure on import-heavy sectors (oil & gas, paints, tyres) and supports IT/export earners if INR weakens marginally.

4) Intraday Bias & Strategy Tone Bias: Neutral to mildly bearish early; range-bound with key decision at Nifty 24,200 support and 24,500 resistance.

Volatility: Low (VIX 11.30) → favors mean-reversion and selling of OTM options with strict risk control, or buying near supports with tight SL.

Global cues: Watch Strait of Hormuz tensions, oil prices, FOMC minutes, US jobs data, and China PMIs for potential volatility spikes later in the week.

5) Stocks / Sectors: Watchlist With Sample Intraday Setups

Below is a trader-oriented watchlist based on typical pre-market commentary and technical levels reported for this period. These are intraday reference setups, not long-term recommendations. Always adjust to live price, volume, and order flow.

Note: Exact live prices may differ; use these as structure-based plans (entry zone, SL, target) and validate with your chart at market open.

A) Stocks Worth Considering for BUY on Weakness

Reliance Industries

Rationale: Index heavyweight; often leads Nifty moves; supportive if crude stabilizes.

Intraday plan (example):

Buy zone: Near previous day’s low / 20‑EMA support on 5‑min.

SL: Below recent swing low (≈ 1–1.5%).

Targets: Prior day high, then next psychological round number.

HDFC Bank / ICICI Bank

Rationale: Bank Nifty anchors; if Bank Nifty holds 57,200–57,400, these can bounce.

Intraday plan:

Buy on dip near support zone with volume confirmation.

SL: Below intraday swing low.

Targets: 1:2 or 1:3 risk-reward towards session high.

IT (Infosys / TCS)

Rationale: Beneficiary if INR remains stable/weak; often defensive in uncertain global cues.

Intraday plan:

Buy on breakout above pre-market/high of first 15‑min candle.

SL: Below breakout candle low.

Targets: Measured move of initial range.

Defence / PSU Banks (if momentum continues)

Rationale: Recent strength in defence and select PSUs; weekly outlooks note continued interest in these themes.

Intraday plan:

Buy on pullback to 5‑min 20‑EMA in an uptrend.

SL: Below pullback low.

Targets: Recent high, then extension.

B) Stocks / Areas to Consider for SELL on Strength]

Overextended Midcaps / Smallcaps

Rationale: In low-VIX, range-bound markets, overextended names often fade at resistance.

Intraday plan:

Sell near strong resistance with bearish candle (shooting star, bearish engulfing).

SL: Above resistance high.

Targets: Previous support / VWAP.

Oil Import Sensitives (if crude spikes)

Rationale: Any escalation in Middle East can lift crude, pressuring paints, tyres, O&G marketers.

Intraday plan:

Sell on failure at resistance when crude is up sharply.

SL: Above day’s high.

Targets: Downside move towards prior support.

Weak Private Banks (if Bank Nifty breaks 57,200)

Rationale: If Bank Nifty loses 57,200 decisively, weaker private banks can extend downside towards 56,800–56,200 zone.

Intraday plan:

Sell on breakdown with volume.

SL: Above breakdown level.

Targets: Next support zone.

For precise stock names with exact numeric targets/SL, you’ll need a live pre-market report or your broker’s morning note. The above gives you structure-based intraday frameworks aligned with current index levels and volatility.

6) How to Use This for Your Intraday Plan

Nifty: Long near 24,200–24,250 with tight SL below 24,180; target 24,350–24,450.

Short on rejection at 24,450–24,500 with SL above 24,520; target 24,300–24,200.

Bank Nifty:  Long above 57,600 with SL below 57,400; target 57,800–58,000.

Short below 57,200 with SL above 57,350; target 56,900–56,800.

Keep position size modest due to potential event risk (Middle East, FOMC minutes).
