India's Wholesale Price Inflation Rises in June
India's wholesale prices climbed 3.4% year on year in June after jumping 2.6% in May as manufacturing, primary articles, and food prices rose, according to data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Monday.
The reading was the fastest increase since February 2023 but came in below the consensus estimate for a 3.5% gain, according to Trading Economics.
The inflation rate for primary articles was 8.8% in June versus 7.2% in May, while fuel and power inflation was 1% against 1.4% in the prior month, the report said.
Inflation for food articles grew to about 11% in June, compared with 9.8% in May, as the prices of vegetables were up almost 39% year on year.
Manufactured products inflation stood at 1.4% in June, compared with 0.8% in May, the report said.
